According to some of the Wixers, there was a close encounter of the third kind.
[0:00:00 - 0:00:12] ▶
It sounds like a B-sized fiction movie.
[0:00:12 - 0:00:15] ▶
It just does, but there they were, and they weren't from here.
[0:00:15 - 0:00:24] ▶
These stories are some of the strangest experiences ever described in the UK.
[0:00:24 - 0:00:29] ▶
We can't tell if they're true, but they are all recanted by ordinary people.
[0:00:29 - 0:00:34] ▶
Now they are your witnesses.
[0:00:34 - 0:00:36] ▶
This unique audio recording is of conversations between US Air Force soldiers and their superiors,
[0:00:36 - 0:00:58] ▶
as they investigate a series of strange lights in the UK's most outstanding and controversial
[0:00:58 - 0:01:04] ▶
UFO encounter.
[0:01:04 - 0:01:05] ▶
The Rendalsham incident.
[0:01:05 - 0:01:17] ▶
Over three nights, up to 40 US Air Force personnel from bases in Suffolk saw strange lights nearby.
[0:01:17 - 0:01:24] ▶
There are many conflicting accounts and interpretations of what actually happened in the forest, even
[0:01:24 - 0:01:29] ▶
those who believe that something unusual happened do not all agree.
[0:01:29 - 0:01:33] ▶
Former Airman Larry Warren was one of the witnesses who came forward.
[0:01:33 - 0:01:37] ▶
On December 28, 1980, at that period in time, I was a security policeman at our at Bent
[0:01:37 - 0:01:43] ▶
Waters, and I had a secret clearance.
[0:01:43 - 0:01:46] ▶
I was an Airman first class, and I was assigned a deflight.
[0:01:46 - 0:01:50] ▶
That night I showed up at 1130 on the Bent Waters flight line for Guard Mount.
[0:01:50 - 0:01:55] ▶
I was in a five-man group, and I was told to move off into the forest.
[0:01:55 - 0:02:02] ▶
The big event took place on the night of the 28th and the early morning of the 29th of December.
[0:02:02 - 0:02:10] ▶
This is when the huge spaceship landed.
[0:02:10 - 0:02:15] ▶
It was about 30-foot wide and multiple colours spinning, if you like.
[0:02:15 - 0:02:23] ▶
There were about 30 to 40 witnesses in this incident.
[0:02:23 - 0:02:31] ▶
The first two witnesses that were involved in this incident were told to go out to investigate
[0:02:31 - 0:02:36] ▶
lights over the forest.
[0:02:36 - 0:02:41] ▶
The first thing I saw was a probably 50-foot-across diameter, yellowish, green, translucent object
[0:02:41 - 0:02:50] ▶
on the ground.
[0:02:50 - 0:02:51] ▶
It was probably a foot and height.
[0:02:51 - 0:02:52] ▶
It was attached to the ground.
[0:02:52 - 0:02:54] ▶
It wasn't hovering above it, but had shape and definition.
[0:02:54 - 0:02:58] ▶
You could see through it at times periodically, and the lights went from green to yellow
[0:02:58 - 0:03:03] ▶
mist, as all I can describe it as.
[0:03:03 - 0:03:06] ▶
It was like a platform, but fluid.
[0:03:06 - 0:03:10] ▶
And all this was a farmer's house, and there was a light on on the second floor.
[0:03:10 - 0:03:13] ▶
There was a car in the driveway, and there were people probably outside watching this
[0:03:13 - 0:03:18] ▶
also.
[0:03:18 - 0:03:19] ▶
We do have evidence that this is the first incident took place, because we've got the
[0:03:19 - 0:03:24] ▶
photograph of the landing site.
[0:03:24 - 0:03:28] ▶
Also a patrol went out following this and took radiation readings.
[0:03:28 - 0:03:34] ▶
On the 29th of December, two days after the original sighting, the soldiers took radiation
[0:03:34 - 0:03:44] ▶
readings and mounted cameras in the area to see if they could make some sort of sense
[0:03:44 - 0:03:48] ▶
of the situation.
[0:03:48 - 0:03:52] ▶
To my right, there was a motion picture camera on a tripod, and someone else had, at that
[0:03:52 - 0:03:57] ▶
time, a video camera filming everything I'm about to describe.
[0:03:57 - 0:04:02] ▶
At night, Larry Warren claims he witnessed alien life forms.
[0:04:02 - 0:04:08] ▶
The place of the explosion of light was this trying-your-structured object that had like
[0:04:08 - 0:04:13] ▶
a rainbow effect on it.
[0:04:13 - 0:04:14] ▶
It had boxes and pipes, or things on its surface.
[0:04:14 - 0:04:20] ▶
It looked very heavy.
[0:04:20 - 0:04:21] ▶
It looked very old.
[0:04:21 - 0:04:22] ▶
I had this feeling.
[0:04:22 - 0:04:23] ▶
It was this old thing.
[0:04:23 - 0:04:24] ▶
I don't know why.
[0:04:24 - 0:04:26] ▶
Times seemed to be at half speed.
[0:04:26 - 0:04:28] ▶
I wasn't looking at this as a rational, normal person.
[0:04:28 - 0:04:31] ▶
I don't know how it affected others.
[0:04:31 - 0:04:35] ▶
There was no heat.
[0:04:35 - 0:04:36] ▶
There was no sound that I can recall.
[0:04:36 - 0:04:38] ▶
In fact, everything was almost like in a vacuum.
[0:04:38 - 0:04:43] ▶
Some people ran off, had run retreated quite quick.
[0:04:43 - 0:04:51] ▶
The cameras were filming this the whole while.
[0:04:51 - 0:04:53] ▶
Some people just stayed in place.
[0:04:53 - 0:04:54] ▶
I was probably shocked, you know.
[0:04:54 - 0:04:59] ▶
The man in charge of the patrol was Lieutenant Colonel Charles Holt.
[0:04:59 - 0:05:03] ▶
Larry Warren remembers the encounter his team had in the forest as recorded on the US Air
[0:05:03 - 0:05:08] ▶
Force tape.
[0:05:08 - 0:05:12] ▶
Holt's tape actually describes the beginning of this event, as seen from about 200 yards
[0:05:12 - 0:05:17] ▶
away through the trees, where the red light comes in and then there's an object or something
[0:05:17 - 0:05:22] ▶
explodes and that's what they were seeing in Capelgreens through the forest.
[0:05:22 - 0:05:26] ▶
Look at that thing, I'll probably about 200 yards away.
[0:05:26 - 0:05:30] ▶
It looks like an eye, a winking at you.
[0:05:30 - 0:05:31] ▶
Don't move it from side to side.
[0:05:31 - 0:05:33] ▶
Don't even put the starscope on it.
[0:05:33 - 0:05:35] ▶
It's right for you.
[0:05:35 - 0:05:36] ▶
It has a hollow center, like dark sands.
[0:05:36 - 0:05:39] ▶
It's like a people in an eye, look at that, you know, winking.
[0:05:39 - 0:05:42] ▶
It's one on the right side, the way through.
[0:05:42 - 0:05:44] ▶
Yeah, I'm going to head on over.
[0:05:44 - 0:05:47] ▶
Oh, here, here, here, he comes from the south.
[0:05:47 - 0:05:49] ▶
He's coming towards us now.
[0:05:49 - 0:05:51] ▶
That one appears to be a meme coming down to the ground.
[0:05:51 - 0:05:55] ▶
It's unreal.
[0:05:55 - 0:05:57] ▶
This light came around this blind side of the object.
[0:05:57 - 0:06:00] ▶
Never saw the back of it.
[0:06:00 - 0:06:01] ▶
It couldn't move from the air it was in.
[0:06:01 - 0:06:04] ▶
And inside the light were these, the light diminished in brightness.
[0:06:04 - 0:06:08] ▶
It was a foot off the ground and there were, well, you'd only describe his children at
[0:06:08 - 0:06:14] ▶
that time.
[0:06:14 - 0:06:15] ▶
I wasn't the only one that did it.
[0:06:15 - 0:06:16] ▶
Some other people said I thought these were children.
[0:06:16 - 0:06:19] ▶
And they had four or four and a half feet tall above the ground, very bright, translucent
[0:06:19 - 0:06:28] ▶
at points.
[0:06:28 - 0:06:29] ▶
You couldn't see the lower extremities, but you could clearly see the face and it wasn't
[0:06:29 - 0:06:33] ▶
human.
[0:06:33 - 0:06:35] ▶
But it seemed like it was either a projection or it was separate from us or was protected
[0:06:35 - 0:06:39] ▶
from us.
[0:06:39 - 0:06:40] ▶
It was, but it was alive.
[0:06:40 - 0:06:42] ▶
There was no doubt in my mind the way these things moved, the upper extremities.
[0:06:42 - 0:06:46] ▶
There was a noise behind this at one point in the arms and one of these three beings raised
[0:06:46 - 0:06:54] ▶
almost like this in a defensive posture.
[0:06:54 - 0:06:57] ▶
It had some kind of equipment around it's belt, all three of them.
[0:06:57 - 0:07:02] ▶
And it sounds like a B-science fiction movie.
[0:07:02 - 0:07:04] ▶
I mean, it just does, but there they were.
[0:07:04 - 0:07:06] ▶
They weren't from here at all.
[0:07:06 - 0:07:09] ▶
According to some of the witnesses, there was a close encounter of the third kind.
[0:07:09 - 0:07:16] ▶
There was actually beings.
[0:07:16 - 0:07:19] ▶
These were translucent.
[0:07:19 - 0:07:20] ▶
They were almost human looking, but translucent.
[0:07:20 - 0:07:24] ▶
The witnesses were absolutely in a terrible state.
[0:07:24 - 0:07:27] ▶
I mean, these are military men.
[0:07:27 - 0:07:29] ▶
We see strange, strobe like flashes to the Irish sporadic, but there's definitely something
[0:07:29 - 0:07:34] ▶
there.
[0:07:34 - 0:07:35] ▶
Some kind of caloma.
[0:07:35 - 0:07:36] ▶
Through our fire.
[0:07:36 - 0:07:38] ▶
We approached these things.
[0:07:38 - 0:07:43] ▶
There's been misstatements over the years that there was communication with sign language
[0:07:43 - 0:07:47] ▶
and all this, like closing the movies it was.
[0:07:47 - 0:07:50] ▶
And it was definitely a visual standoff.
[0:07:50 - 0:07:54] ▶
Very uncomfortable one.
[0:07:54 - 0:07:55] ▶
So it looked with this phenomena.
[0:07:55 - 0:07:58] ▶
Some of the other people looked totally buried, like everything they knew collapsed.
[0:07:58 - 0:08:10] ▶
It was done.
[0:08:10 - 0:08:11] ▶
We were called off by our shift supervisor back to the staging area, parking area.
[0:08:11 - 0:08:20] ▶
And it seemed the lower ranking guys were called off for us.
[0:08:20 - 0:08:22] ▶
So I gladly left.
[0:08:22 - 0:08:24] ▶
I looked over my shoulder.
[0:08:24 - 0:08:25] ▶
My left shoulder is I was going over the rise.
[0:08:25 - 0:08:28] ▶
And this face-off was still going on on this field called Capel Green.
[0:08:28 - 0:08:34] ▶
And I'll never forget it.
[0:08:34 - 0:08:35] ▶
And there it was.
[0:08:35 - 0:08:36] ▶
We got back to the vehicles and left.
[0:08:36 - 0:08:39] ▶
We're going to run heading back to the base.
[0:08:39 - 0:08:44] ▶
The object is still being downright to the ground.
[0:08:44 - 0:08:48] ▶
The witnesses were believed they made statements.
[0:08:48 - 0:08:51] ▶
The British police were also called out where the Euphoad landed and they found three indentations
[0:08:51 - 0:08:59] ▶
in the ground which were photographed.
[0:08:59 - 0:09:02] ▶
And remarkably, in 1983, they were sent a copy of a memorandum that was written by Lieutenant
[0:09:02 - 0:09:10] ▶
Colonel Charles Halt, the very person who went out there with the patrol and investigated
[0:09:10 - 0:09:16] ▶
this case.
[0:09:16 - 0:09:19] ▶
For many years, the truth behind Britain's equivalent to Roswell remained surrounded in
[0:09:19 - 0:09:24] ▶
secrecy, closely guarded by both the British and US governments.
[0:09:24 - 0:09:30] ▶
In 1983, after years of campaigning, the US government was forced to release official
[0:09:30 - 0:09:36] ▶
documents on the incident under the Freedom of Information Act.
[0:09:36 - 0:09:40] ▶
This controversial report is signed by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Halt, the commander in charge
[0:09:40 - 0:09:46] ▶
on the night.
[0:09:46 - 0:09:47] ▶
This memorandum was sent to the Ministry of Defence.
[0:09:47 - 0:09:51] ▶
And really, what it depicts is what happened during that week.
[0:09:51 - 0:09:56] ▶
It mentions the triangular-shaped craft.
[0:09:56 - 0:10:00] ▶
It also mentions that Colonel Halt was out there himself at a later date.
[0:10:00 - 0:10:05] ▶
It mentions the radiation readings and numerous other things.
[0:10:05 - 0:10:09] ▶
So here we have, for the very first time, an official document to say that this case actually
[0:10:09 - 0:10:15] ▶
took place.
[0:10:15 - 0:10:16] ▶
The Halt Memo dated January 13, 1981, just weeks after these events.
[0:10:16 - 0:10:24] ▶
As important as it is on official Air Force letterhead authored by a deputy-based commander
[0:10:24 - 0:10:28] ▶
of a very important NATO airbase, describing phenomena that reads like science fiction,
[0:10:28 - 0:10:35] ▶
all that is good and fine.
[0:10:35 - 0:10:37] ▶
But the bottom line is, I witnessed it, and it's the biggest story ever told, really,
[0:10:37 - 0:10:44] ▶
when it gets down to it.
[0:10:44 - 0:10:48] ▶
If this case was brought into a court of law, the testimony from the witnesses and the
[0:10:48 - 0:10:53] ▶
evidence that could be brought forward would bring this house of cards down in a matter
[0:10:53 - 0:10:57] ▶
of hours, and that I stand by.
[0:10:57 - 0:11:07] ▶
Over three nights in December 1980, a series of strange lights was seen at a US Air Force
[0:11:07 - 0:11:12] ▶
Base near Reddolshum Forest in Suffolk.
[0:11:12 - 0:11:16] ▶
The lights were investigated by military police, but they could find no explanation for the
[0:11:16 - 0:11:20] ▶
extraordinary sites.
[0:11:20 - 0:11:22] ▶
In an official memo written by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Halt, he described his men as
[0:11:22 - 0:11:27] ▶
reporting seeing strange objects in the woods.
[0:11:27 - 0:11:30] ▶
Early in the morning of December 27, 1980, approximately 0300 hours local to USAF Security
[0:11:30 - 0:11:38] ▶
Police.
[0:11:38 - 0:11:39] ▶
The individuals reported seeing a strange glowing object in the forest.
[0:11:39 - 0:11:43] ▶
The object was described as being metallic in appearance and triangular shape.
[0:11:43 - 0:11:47] ▶
The object was hovering or on legs.
[0:11:47 - 0:12:03] ▶
As a patrolman approached the object, it maneuvered through the trees and disappeared.
[0:12:03 - 0:12:07] ▶
The next day, according to Halt, the site was checked for evidence of anything unusual.
[0:12:07 - 0:12:12] ▶
Three depressions, one and a half inches deep, and seven inches in diameter were found
[0:12:12 - 0:12:18] ▶
where the object had been sighted on the ground.
[0:12:18 - 0:12:24] ▶
Beta gamma readings of 0.1 milli-runchens were recorded with peak readings in the three
[0:12:24 - 0:12:30] ▶
depressions and near the center of the triangle formed by the depression.
[0:12:30 - 0:12:34] ▶
On the evening of the third day, Halt himself reported further sightings of unexplainable
[0:12:34 - 0:12:39] ▶
lights in the sky.
[0:12:39 - 0:13:01] ▶
Police were called in.
[0:13:01 - 0:13:03] ▶
After their initial examination, they found nothing significant.
[0:13:03 - 0:13:07] ▶
They decided that they too could see nothing further to investigate.
[0:13:07 - 0:13:12] ▶
Now, the British police were also called out on the time it took place, but they were
[0:13:12 - 0:13:19] ▶
actually called 4am in the morning when it was all over.
[0:13:19 - 0:13:23] ▶
So what we have now is a police officer who is saying, oh, but there was nothing there
[0:13:23 - 0:13:28] ▶
when I went out to investigate it.
[0:13:28 - 0:13:31] ▶
But of course, it was all over by that time.
[0:13:31 - 0:13:33] ▶
The official line was that the lights had an innocent, rational explanation, possibly
[0:13:33 - 0:13:38] ▶
the beam from a nearby lighthouse, but some still think differently.
[0:13:38 - 0:13:42] ▶
Throughout the last 20 years, gradually some of the witnesses have come forward and started
[0:13:42 - 0:13:49] ▶
to talk about what happened.
[0:13:49 - 0:13:53] ▶
One of the witnesses was told that what he had seen was the beam from the nearby lighthouse.
[0:13:53 - 0:14:00] ▶
Now, this is five miles in the distance.
[0:14:00 - 0:14:02] ▶
He said, no, I did not see a lighthouse beam.
[0:14:02 - 0:14:06] ▶
What I saw was an unidentified craft.
[0:14:06 - 0:14:09] ▶
They kept on and on.
[0:14:09 - 0:14:11] ▶
And in the end, he finally said, OK, it was the beam from the nearby lighthouse.
[0:14:11 - 0:14:16] ▶
He was so upset about this that when he was returned back to his quarters, he actually
[0:14:16 - 0:14:23] ▶
thought of going AWOL.
[0:14:23 - 0:14:27] ▶
The final reaction from the US Air Force and the UK Ministry of Defence was the same
[0:14:27 - 0:14:31] ▶
and remained so to this day.
[0:14:31 - 0:14:34] ▶
The Ministry of Defence have denied this incident took place.
[0:14:34 - 0:14:39] ▶
In other words, they just say, oh, it was lights in the sky.
[0:14:39 - 0:14:42] ▶
It was of no defence significant.
[0:14:42 - 0:14:44] ▶
No matter how many times people talk about it, no matter how many witnesses come forward,
[0:14:44 - 0:14:50] ▶
the Ministry of Defence continued to deny that this incident took place.
[0:14:50 - 0:14:54] ▶
The Ministry of Defence statement was clear and unambiguous.
[0:14:57 - 0:15:01] ▶
The lights posed no threat.
[0:15:01 - 0:15:03] ▶
The Ministry of Defence examines any reports of unexplained aerial sightings it receives,
[0:15:03 - 0:15:08] ▶
solely to establish whether what was seen might have some defence significance.
[0:15:08 - 0:15:13] ▶
Namely, whether there is any evidence that the United Kingdom's airspace
[0:15:13 - 0:15:17] ▶
might have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised air activity.
[0:15:17 - 0:15:22] ▶
The judgement was that there was no indication that a breach of the United Kingdom's air defenses
[0:15:22 - 0:15:27] ▶
had occurred on the nights in question,
[0:15:27 - 0:15:30] ▶
and no further investigation into the matter was deemed to be necessary.
[0:15:30 - 0:15:35] ▶
The government, Great Britain has always said,
[0:15:35 - 0:15:37] ▶
these events were of no defence significance.
[0:15:37 - 0:15:40] ▶
And I countered that by saying we had the largest backline supply of tactical nuclear weapons
[0:15:40 - 0:15:45] ▶
in NATO secretly housed in East Anglia.
[0:15:45 - 0:15:47] ▶
These objects were flying with impunity over the weapon storage areas
[0:15:47 - 0:15:51] ▶
firing beams of light down to the ground at these hardened weapon storage areas
[0:15:51 - 0:15:56] ▶
adversely affecting the order and the sin.
[0:15:56 - 0:15:58] ▶
That sounds to me like it's extreme defence significance.
[0:15:58 - 0:16:02] ▶
There are actually a number of reasons why the British and American governments
[0:16:02 - 0:16:07] ▶
would not want to admit that this very powerful incident took place.
[0:16:07 - 0:16:13] ▶
At that particular time, it was the height of the Cold War.
[0:16:13 - 0:16:17] ▶
The bases deployed nuclear weapons that we weren't supposed to know about.
[0:16:17 - 0:16:23] ▶
There was a lot of conflicts going on in the world,
[0:16:23 - 0:16:27] ▶
but if you actually look back on the historical records on Eurphology,
[0:16:27 - 0:16:34] ▶
you will realise that every case is being covered up, including, of course, Roswell.
[0:16:34 - 0:16:39] ▶
I've never seen a tree that's in full sense.
[0:16:39 - 0:16:42] ▶
They will see a point where it's the damage reactor.
[0:16:42 - 0:16:45] ▶
So is this Britain's Roswell?
[0:16:45 - 0:16:47] ▶
The conspiracy theorists and believers had a field day.
[0:16:47 - 0:16:51] ▶
Though they don't all agree, they felt they had credible eyewitness evidence
[0:16:51 - 0:16:54] ▶
of sightings of alien craft,
[0:16:54 - 0:16:57] ▶
but the Ministry of Defence and US Air Force still maintained
[0:16:57 - 0:17:00] ▶
that there was no threat to air defenses, even though nuclear weapons were stored nearby.
[0:17:00 - 0:17:05] ▶
There could be a whole lot of reasons why we're talking about a cover-up.
[0:17:08 - 0:17:13] ▶
It could, in its simplest form, be bureaucracy.
[0:17:13 - 0:17:17] ▶
It could be red tape, and it's nothing more than that.
[0:17:17 - 0:17:20] ▶
I mean, our own official secrets acting in the UK buries things for years.
[0:17:20 - 0:17:25] ▶
Some of it is quite trivial, and there's no reason why it shouldn't be released.
[0:17:25 - 0:17:28] ▶
It's just that the way that the way bureaucracy works.
[0:17:28 - 0:17:32] ▶
Again, it could be that that's the way bureaucracy works regarding the renders of events.
[0:17:32 - 0:17:37] ▶
Alternatively, it could be that there was no aliens involved at all,
[0:17:37 - 0:17:42] ▶
that the events in question were something that our own military forces
[0:17:42 - 0:17:47] ▶
were experimenting with, playing around with, that went wrong.
[0:17:47 - 0:17:51] ▶
So therefore, there's a reason for hiding this, you know,
[0:17:51 - 0:17:53] ▶
military blunders in the past have been hidden for a long, long time.
[0:17:53 - 0:17:58] ▶
Well, again, if it is an alien presence,
[0:17:58 - 0:18:01] ▶
who knows the reasons why this may be kept secret?
[0:18:01 - 0:18:04] ▶
Amid the many conflicting stories of the Rendlesham incident,
[0:18:04 - 0:18:08] ▶
whether it was a lighthouse beam or other rational explanation,
[0:18:08 - 0:18:11] ▶
Larry Warren still believes that he saw alien beings that night.
[0:18:11 - 0:18:15] ▶
To the best of my knowledge, Larry's the only one that actually states
[0:18:15 - 0:18:19] ▶
that aliens were there at the time were responsible for this,
[0:18:19 - 0:18:23] ▶
that he physically saw aliens.
[0:18:23 - 0:18:25] ▶
I'm not sure that any of the other witnesses to these events
[0:18:25 - 0:18:28] ▶
even talk about aliens.
[0:18:28 - 0:18:31] ▶
But to be fair to Larry, he said on many occasions
[0:18:31 - 0:18:35] ▶
that if you take Larry Warren out of the whole rendersham story,
[0:18:35 - 0:18:39] ▶
that is still a story there, and he's absolutely 100% correct.
[0:18:39 - 0:18:44] ▶
How do I know the truth on these events?
[0:18:48 - 0:18:52] ▶
I know from firsthand experience and 23 years later,
[0:18:52 - 0:18:58] ▶
I'm looking for answers still.
[0:18:58 - 0:19:00] ▶
I was 19 years old when it happened in my 40s now,
[0:19:00 - 0:19:04] ▶
and I'm still looking.
[0:19:04 - 0:19:06] ▶
And I think everyone else that went through them in their own ways
[0:19:06 - 0:19:09] ▶
of doing the same thing.
[0:19:09 - 0:19:12] ▶
I don't know what the great truth of who they were that was there.
[0:19:12 - 0:19:16] ▶
I know the object I saw was not built in Detroit,
[0:19:16 - 0:19:19] ▶
and I know the pilots weren't lighthouse keepers.
[0:19:19 - 0:19:23] ▶
They'd be funny about it, but the explanations,
[0:19:23 - 0:19:26] ▶
the counter-explanation, the more ridiculous and the fact
[0:19:26 - 0:19:29] ▶
that there was a non-human presence in that forest on the night
[0:19:29 - 0:19:33] ▶
I was involved, and that was the third night,
[0:19:33 - 0:19:35] ▶
then involved the most participants.
[0:19:35 - 0:19:37] ▶
I've named them for years, long before this was part of any part
[0:19:38 - 0:19:41] ▶
of pop culture at all.
[0:19:41 - 0:19:43] ▶
And the bottom line is, I wrote a book about this
[0:19:43 - 0:19:47] ▶
just to set the record straight on what happened to me.
[0:19:47 - 0:19:51] ▶
And five years later, I have never been sued for what I said
[0:19:51 - 0:19:54] ▶
or naming the people and placing them in the roles they were in at all.
[0:19:54 - 0:19:59] ▶
Larry has had some difficulties, however.
[0:20:01 - 0:20:04] ▶
The US government temporarily suspended his passport,
[0:20:04 - 0:20:07] ▶
restricting his freedom to travel.
[0:20:07 - 0:20:10] ▶
I can look at myself and say that I'm the first person ever
[0:20:10 - 0:20:14] ▶
to be an alleged whistleblower, and I am a government whistleblower
[0:20:14 - 0:20:19] ▶
to have this United States passport suspended officially,
[0:20:19 - 0:20:22] ▶
which does not happen.
[0:20:22 - 0:20:24] ▶
Our passports are given to us and it's a matter of constitutional right
[0:20:24 - 0:20:27] ▶
unless you're a convicted felon. I'm not.
[0:20:27 - 0:20:30] ▶
I had mine suspended for a year,
[0:20:30 - 0:20:32] ▶
and with a simple reason that I spoke about sensitive defense issues
[0:20:32 - 0:20:37] ▶
on public soil, and it took a former United States attorney general
[0:20:37 - 0:20:40] ▶
under two presidents Ramsey Clark to get it back.
[0:20:40 - 0:20:43] ▶
Now, I can't think of any witness over the last 50, 55 years
[0:20:43 - 0:20:48] ▶
in this subject that has had repercussions like that.
[0:20:48 - 0:20:51] ▶
Did the definite heat reflection of the tree in on 5, 3, 4, 3, 4, 3?
[0:20:51 - 0:20:56] ▶
Yes, where's the five is?
[0:20:56 - 0:20:58] ▶
20 years after the event,
[0:20:58 - 0:21:00] ▶
the Ministry of Defence released documents relating to the Rendolshan incident.
[0:21:00 - 0:21:05] ▶
But this was not enough to satisfy the believers.
[0:21:05 - 0:21:08] ▶
There were more than 150 documents,
[0:21:08 - 0:21:11] ▶
but there were really only 12 documents that were very important to the case.
[0:21:11 - 0:21:17] ▶
Most of them were just letters from the public or letters from MPs.
[0:21:17 - 0:21:22] ▶
I mean, over the years, members of Parliament have asked questions
[0:21:22 - 0:21:26] ▶
in the House of Lords, you know,
[0:21:26 - 0:21:28] ▶
but still the Ministry of Defence denied that this incident
[0:21:28 - 0:21:32] ▶
was of any defence significance.
[0:21:32 - 0:21:35] ▶
I had the opportunity to interview Margaret Thatcher in 1997,
[0:21:37 - 0:21:43] ▶
and of course Margaret Thatcher was the Prime Minister in 1980
[0:21:43 - 0:21:47] ▶
when this incident took place.
[0:21:47 - 0:21:49] ▶
I talked to her about military personnel, scientists,
[0:21:51 - 0:21:54] ▶
who are now coming forward and talking about their encounters.
[0:21:54 - 0:22:00] ▶
She turned around and said,
[0:22:00 - 0:22:01] ▶
you have to have the facts and you can't tell the people.
[0:22:01 - 0:22:06] ▶
Now, why can't I tell the people?
[0:22:06 - 0:22:09] ▶
Why can't the people be told?
[0:22:09 - 0:22:11] ▶
But if you think about it, does the government know what's going on?
[0:22:11 - 0:22:16] ▶
I mean, are they able to deal with this?
[0:22:16 - 0:22:19] ▶
What President or Prime Minister would want to risk
[0:22:21 - 0:22:24] ▶
their reputation by standing up and saying,
[0:22:24 - 0:22:27] ▶
yes, we have had contact?
[0:22:27 - 0:22:29] ▶
